Princess Arianny's First Birthday!
Arianny's first birthday was full of fun for ALL of the little kids invited! The theme was princesses and pirates and there were so many adorable activities for the kids to have fun with together.
These bite sized truffle pops were simply cute and perfect for all of the little guests.
Happy Birthday Ari!
WE LOVE YOU TERRY!
Today we are celebrating the memory of our great friend Terry Paul. Our friends have put together an annual football game where all of Terry's friends and family can come together and talk, play and have a great day- in Terry's name. The time is flying by, but it always feels like yesterday that we were fighting over who has the better smile and who has the mom with the better lasagna. I didn't have my mom make lasagna for you today, but I baked some treats with you in mind :-)
I spoke to Terry's aunt a few days ago---she said it all; stay healthy, laugh and enjoy every single moment. Anything can happen.
It's the holiday to have fun with...
I usually do not experiment with making fondant cakes, but I thought that this halloween would be the perfect excuse to give it a try! I have to say, I had so much fun "winging it" and making the cake-- it came out to be pretty cute ;-) -- 4 layers of an 8" chocolate fudge cake with buttercream icing and fondant decoration. The cute purple spider is even edible if you just haddd to take a bite! Working with fondant can always be a little tricky, especially when it comes to making a smooth, even cake. I can't wait to work on the next one!!
Sometimes, there is just something refreshing about less detail and less fuss!
These monogram engagement cookies are a perfect example of how less is more- in a beautiful way.
Kristen and Gene used a circle shape with thin letters for their initials as their "stamp" for their big day. I mimicked their monogram sticker when baking their engagement cookie favors by creating a navy blue fondant with white royal icing letters.
The bride was not styling with glitter and shine, so I incorporated a pop of matte gold color by placing the cookies on decorative paper in clear bags.
A simple yet elegant favor for guests to take home and enjoy.
Congratulations Kristen and Gene!
Pink pearls, pink ribbon, pink raspberries and LOVE
I was asked to make a small dessert table for a baby shower-- one of my favorite events to celebrate!
The theme of the party was cherry blossoms, so naturally, everything was PINK- baby pink that is.
It is always so much fun to make small bite sized desserts that coordinate in mood and color, so I had a great time using fun decorations and details for these sweets-
The desserts chosen are shown below:
Three different designs of cupcakes--
1. Buttercream frosted rosettes with pink pearl centers
2. Raspberry topped pink swirled
3. Chocolate glazed with decorative words (much like a Hostess cupcake design)
My shining moment was when ALL of the rosette cupcakes were perfectly decorated, and ALL of them decided to face plant right into the floor. Thank GOD for boyfriends- my angel Andrew calmly picked up the mess and got rid of it so I wouldn't dwell on the loss. Thanks Bee.
Beautifully sweet- for a soon to be mommy!
Though today is still pretty warm outside, the colder days have been putting me in the mood for some Autumn treats! It is never too early for pumpkin spice...
When I was in college, I wrote a letter to the Betty Crocker company asking them to PLEASE sell their pumpkin spice cookie mix all year round. I had an obsession with this mix and I would send my mother on crazy hunts to find it in any store around us...thanks ma :-) Anyway, the company wrote back basically saying the cookie will remain a "seasonal" cookie. I decided today to make my own pumpkin spice treat since I still can't find my favorite store bought mix :-/
This recipe is a little different from the truffles, in that the center is very very soft--just like pumpkin pie filling. I drizzled white chocolate over them -- just enough so you can pick them up and pop them in your mouth in one bite!
White chocolate, ginger snaps, graham crackers - yum!
I absolutely LOVE macaroons.... After tasting so many different kinds, I have come to the conclusion that the chewier they get, the more I obsess over them. Soo I wanted to try making my macaroons with a nice crispy top and a seriously chewy inside. To DIE for!
labor Day weekend is here...too soon...
In honor of the last weekend of summer, I wanted to make sunflower cupcakes.
They are bright, adorable and make me feel like the fun is not over, just yet.
Classic vanilla cupcakes with marshmallow and crushed Oreo topping...
Come and get them before the season is over!
